you businessmen and women got problems. you don’t realize but you have. the hotel flunkey aged 15, is gaping at a computer’s display, monitoring the packets sent by your notebook’s wlan gizmo to your headquarters or inamorata/o. the wlan is secured quite natural . potentially for payoff reasons, not to your protection. the hotels gateway isn’t. the device, each information has to pass through on its way to and from the internet. if you don’t encrypt your data before this happens, peeping tom by the gateway’s screen rubs his hands again. another banking account has altered owners . not only seen in hotels.

HTTPS (Port 443) dient zur Verschlüsselung und zur Authentifizierung der Kommunikation zwischen Webserver und Browser (User) im Internet.
Ohne Verschlüsselung sind sämtliche Daten für jeden mit Zugang zum entsprechenden Netz als Klartext lesbar. Jedes Paßwort, jeder Blog-Beitrag und jede E-Mail an die Liebste. Die meisten Funkverbindungen etwa zu öffentlichen WLAN-Hotspots, werden leider zumeist unverschlüsselt betrieben. Deshalb nimmt die Bedeutung von HTTPS immer mehr zu, da hiermit alle Inhalte vor dem Senden ins Netz verschlüsselt werden. Es stellt obendrein das einzige Verschlüsselungsverfahren dar, welches ohne zusätzliche Softwareinstallation von allen Browsern unterstützt wird.
Die Authentifizierung dient dazu, daß sich jede Seite der Identität des anderen vergewissern kann. Ein Feature das durch immer mehr Phishing-Attacken zunehmend an Bedeutung gewinnt. So ist es also wie es immer ist: billiges Domainhosting a’la $ 0,99/m kann solche heutzutage eigentlich selbstverständlichen Dinge nicht liefern.
